Native Plant Garden Design for the Home Landscape

Join Matthew Turnbull of Ecotypes Design, who will bring his 15+ years of experience, for this practical design workshop that will walk you through a step-by-step process of converting turfgrass into a thriving perennial garden.

The workshop will start with a discussion on site preparation, planting, and establishment followed by a walk through the nursery to view different perennial species that would work for an installation. Then we'll wrap up with a discussion about the maintenance phase of an installation and how to problem-solve the pitfalls of warm season turfgrass. There will be time for a Q & A session related to the individual homeowner's landscape too.

Matthew has 15+ years working professionally with native plants at botanical gardens (Longwood Gardens, South Carolina Botanical Garden) and in landscape design. Ecotypes Design focuses on resilient, functional and aesthetic native and near native plantings based out of Beaufort, SC.
