About the Event

Let's explore the Sullivan's Island Maritime Forest & learn the value of native plants and how they can inspire your home garden!

Are you interested in learning more about the value of native plants in the Sullivan's Island Maritime Forest and how they can inspire your home garden? Then, join Sullivan's Island For All for a guided nature walk through the Sullivan's Island Nature Trail in celebration of Earth Day! Local restoration ecologist Rebecca Fanning will lead this walk and highlight how this important plant community shelters us from storms and provides forage and shelter for innumerable creatures, big and small. She will also showcase some of the native plants that would look as stunning in a formal garden as they do along the nature trail. We hope this walk will spark your interest in exploring and learning more about our awe-inspiring 190-acre maritime forest and planting native in your own garden!

Please meet at the entrance to the Station 16 beach path (at the corner of Station 16 and Atlantic Avenue on Sullivan's Island). Please bring a water bottle, bug spray, and clothing and shoes suitable for walking on uneven terrain. There are no bathrooms.

Street parking is limited in this area. Plan to arrive early to secure a spot on Poe Ave, Middle Street or in front of Fort Moultrie on Poe. Please observe all parking signs.

This event is free. Limited to 25. A signed liability waiver will be required to participate.
