About the Farm
Background
For over 30 years, the farm has been cultivating vegetables on its 80-acre property in Caddo County, Oklahoma. The farm is owned and operated by Rod Ardoin, who brings a rich heritage of Acadian farming traditions from southwest Louisiana. Known for their dedication to organic farming, they sell their produce through health food stores and a Veggie Club/CSA.
Practices
The farm adheres to strict organic practices, certified by the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food & Forestry (ODAFF). They cultivate 30 acres of vegetables, rotating crops annually and planting cover crops each year. No chemical pesticides, herbicides, or fertilizers are used, and only non-GMO, untreated seeds are planted. The farm emphasizes soil health and ecological balance, even accepting crop losses rather than compromising their organic principles.
The Rest
The farm offers a Veggie Club/CSA that allows members to customize their boxes and order as needed. Their produce, including several varieties of sweet potatoes, can be found at Natural Grocers, Uptown Grocers, and Dodson’s Health Foods. They also provide a range of recipes and preparation ideas on their website.
