About the Farm

Background

Located in the beautiful woods of Applegate, Oregon, this farm has been breeding Nigerian Dwarf Dairy Goats since 2002. Known for their high milk production and correct conformation, they have built their herd primarily on Rosasharn stock, incorporating Twin Creeks, Camanna, and Castle Rock bloodlines for genetic diversity. The farm regularly participates in Linear Appraisal and shows their goats as much as their schedules permit.

Practices

The farm emphasizes keeping the habitat of their goats as natural as possible to ensure a healthy immune system. They annually conduct CAE and Johnes testing with consistently negative results. The goats are protected by a small herd of llamas and three livestock guardian dogs. The farm's motto, 'quality, not quantity,' reflects their commitment to the well-being and humane treatment of their stock.

The Rest

The farm sells raw milk during kidding season and often has goats for sale to approved homes. The name 'Algedi' is derived from the mega alpha star in the constellation Capricorn, meaning 'the kid,' symbolizing both their two-legged and four-legged kids.
