About the Farm
Background
Founded to offer residents of San Bernardino, Orange, Riverside, and Los Angeles Counties a chance to experience an urban farm, the organization has welcomed thousands of visitors annually. In 2009, it expanded to include a farm stand, volunteer opportunities, and educational courses. Despite closing to the public in August 2023, the farm remains dedicated to its mission and values.
Practices
The farm employs sustainable, organic methods, avoiding pesticides, herbicides, and chemicals. It operates as a polyculture system where plant and animal species coexist symbiotically, ensuring nothing is wasted. Animals are fed organic, non-GMO feed, and humane practices are followed for raising and harvesting livestock.
The Rest
The farm offers a self-serve produce stand, open Monday to Saturday, and provides volunteer opportunities for various community groups. Educational programs include gardening master classes, art and science courses, and a parent-toddler participation program. The farm's mission emphasizes community life, social justice, and the preservation of agricultural lands.
