About the Farm
Background
Paul and Carolyn Anderson started Anderson Orchard in 1969 with a vision of allowing customers the freedom to pick their own apples. Over the years, the orchard has grown to encompass 150 acres, offering a wide variety of fruits and nuts. Known for its U-pick experience, the orchard has become a beloved destination in Indiana.
Practices
The orchard spans 150 acres and includes apples, red raspberries, various nuts, pumpkins, peaches, pears, and plums. Fresh produce, cider, and a variety of other items are available for purchase in the retail store. The orchard emphasizes a hands-on approach, allowing visitors to pick their own produce, which fosters a deeper connection between the land and the consumer.
The Rest
Anderson Orchard offers a wide range of locally-grown produce and products in their Apple Barn, including nearly 30 varieties of apples. The orchard hosts an annual Apple Festival & Craft Fair each fall, featuring over 90 vendors, food, and children's activities. Visitors can enjoy refreshments at the Concession Stand, which serves apple cider, caramel apples, and other treats. Picnic areas and a pumpkin patch add to the family-friendly atmosphere.
