About the Farm

Background

Antelope Valley Homestead Lavender is situated on a historic homestead property built in the late 1920s or early 1930s. The farm's name was inspired by a twenty by twenty foot shack that served as the original homestead. The farm is the first lavender farm in the Antelope Valley and began its journey with around 1,000 lavender plants, expanding to 1,100 plants across eleven varieties. The farm has been growing high-quality lavender since its inception and plans to sell products both online and at local farmers' markets.

Practices

The farm employs organic methods, avoiding the use of pesticides and fertilizers. Weeds are managed manually, either by hand or with a hula hoe. The farm is in the process of becoming Certified Naturally Grown. The commitment to these practices ensures that the lavender is cultivated in harmony with the surrounding ecosystem.

The Rest

Antelope Valley Homestead Lavender welcomes visitors for farm tours and U-pick experiences by appointment from May through August. The farm is located in the high desert of Southern California, bordered by the San Gabriel Mountains and the Tehachapi range. Visitors can enjoy the serene environment, filled with the scent of lavender and the sounds of nature, offering a unique 'aromatherapy in the fields' experience.
