About the Farm
Background
The orchard began in 1983 with an initial planting of 250 trees and has since grown to 10,000 trees under the care of 'Apple' Jack Kelly, his daughter Kit, and her husband Mike Dekarski. Initially selling apples from a railroad cart, the orchard expanded to include a market, bakery, and various family-friendly activities.
Practices
Committed to safe, responsible farming practices, the orchard was previously certified by Food Alliance for its conservation efforts and regulated chemical applications. Although no longer officially certified, the farm maintains a strong reputation for sustainability and healthy farming practices.
The Rest
The orchard features a pick-your-own apple experience, strawberry patches, and fall raspberries. Visitors can enjoy a 100-year old barn, an Apple Market, and an Apple Pantry Cafe offering lunch and bakery treats. Seasonal activities include a hay-bale pyramid, mini maze, cow train, apple cannon, corn maze, and a jumping pillow. The farm is a popular destination for families, church groups, scouts, and work groups, and offers a picturesque setting along the Crow River.
