About the Farm
Background
Located in Toms Brook, VA, the farm has become known for its free-range eggs, chicken, pork, and turkey. Each autumn, the farm raises pastured turkeys, which are sold fresh just days before Thanksgiving.
Practices
Turkeys are raised on pasture, foraging and staying outside in all weather conditions. Chickens, including Cornish Cross and heritage breeds, start in clean, open-air brooders with fresh sawdust bedding and are moved to pasture at about three weeks of age. Pigs are rotated through forested areas, where they dig for grubs, munch on produce, and enjoy acorns and low-hanging leaves. The farm emphasizes free-ranging and rotational grazing to ensure animals have ample space and natural diets.
The Rest
The farm also offers Muscovy duck for those seeking a more exotic option for holiday meals. Pork is available by the whole, half, or cut, and orders can be placed via phone or email.
