About the Farm
Background
Ben Wever Farm has been continually family farmed for over 200 years. The latest generation, Shaun and Linda, have taken the reins, continuing the tradition of providing high-quality meat, eggs, and honey. The farm has a loyal customer base that prefers to visit in person to select their own USDA meat cuts. The farm also sells to select stores, delis, and bakeries.
Practices
The farm operates as a conception to consumer operation, meaning livestock spend their entire lives on the farm. They use non-lethal predator control with livestock guardians and raise their animals on Adirondack pasture. Vegetables and fruits are grown as accessory items to complement their premier meats. The farm emphasizes the importance of pasture and hay to sustain their livestock.
The Rest
The farm offers tours for groups such as 4-H, FFA, and Girl Scouts, and has joined HipCamp to offer primitive camping on the river. They also consider internships for the right individuals and provide riding lessons. The farm is a vibrant community hub, sharing its bounty and experiences with visitors.
