About the Farm
Background
Located in Amery, Wisconsin, this family farm has been cultivating the land for over 13 years. Initially known for their Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program, they have shifted focus to soil health and regenerative practices. They continue to grow Certified Organic vegetables and supply local restaurants and food co-ops.
Practices
The farm employs organic methods, emphasizing soil fertility through crop rotation, cover crops, and intensive grazing. Animals play a crucial role in this ecosystem, providing natural manure to enrich the soil. Scottish Highland cattle are rotated on pastures, heritage hogs are fed an organic diet without corn or soy, and broiler chickens and turkeys are pastured and moved daily. The farm avoids chemical fertilizers, relying instead on compost and natural animal manures.
The Rest
The farm offers an online store where customers can purchase their produce and pastured meats. They have received positive feedback for their turkeys, especially for Thanksgiving. The farm's commitment to nurturing the soil and increasing biodiversity is evident in the thriving wildlife and plant life on their land.
