About the Farm

Background

Formerly known as the Blue Ridge Center for Environmental Stewardship, the organization has been dedicated to preserving the unique landscape between Short Hill Mountain and the Blue Ridge Mountains. As of May 2023, Sweet Run State Park is now under the full management of the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation, and the organization has transitioned to become the park's Friends support group.

Practices

The conservancy elevates public understanding of the interconnectedness of people, community, history, environment, and agriculture. It develops, supports, and implements programs that promote sustainable and environmentally focused, low-impact recreational and educational opportunities. Additionally, it supports and promotes the preservation of private land in the Between the Hills area.

The Rest

The conservancy organizes various events such as bird walks in Sweet Run State Park and actively engages the community in conservation efforts. It is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization supported by donations.
