About the Farm
Background
Since 1949, Brenckle's Organic Farm and Greenhouse has been a staple in Cranberry and New Sewickley Townships, as well as the Beaver Valley. Known for their vibrant flowers that have adorned local churches and golf courses, and produce that has reached various local markets and chain supermarkets, the farm has a long-standing reputation for quality. The farm is a family operation, with Tom Brenckle, a fourth-generation farmer, at the helm. Over the years, the farm has expanded its service area and has been certified organic for over a decade.
Practices
Brenckle's Organic Farm and Greenhouse is committed to responsibly managing their land with sustainable practices. They focus on creating micro-ecosystems on the farm and have been increasing the number of organically raised vegetables each year. The farm places more acreage into transition annually to expand their organic offerings. Their dedication to quality is evident in the variety of produce and flowers they grow, including twenty varieties of tulips and new varieties of sweet corn.
The Rest
The farm offers a CSA program for fresh, organic vegetables, available at local farmers' markets. They also provide a wide range of bedding plants and hanging baskets from their greenhouses. Visitors can find fall decorating essentials like hardy mums, pumpkins, cornstalks, and straw. The farm is open daily during the spring and summer, and they also have a presence at the Sewickley farmers' market on Saturdays.
