About the Farm
Background
The Gowdy family began their journey in 1992, purchasing their first cow-calf pairs during a honeymoon trip along the New Hampshire Sea Coast. Initially settling near Walpole, Massachusetts, they later moved to Walpole, New Hampshire. Starting with five Angus cows and their heifers, they expanded their beef herd to twenty-five brood cows. Since 1994, they have been dedicated to raising Angus cross cattle and became certified organic in 2001.
Practices
The farm finishes its beef cattle on pastures, dry hay, and balage, all of which are round-baled on-site. Emphasizing organic practices, the farm ensures that their cattle are happier and healthier. In recent years, they have diversified their operations to include milking twenty Normandy Cross cows, raising lamb on pasture, and maintaining a herd of Boer goats. All meats are 100% grass-fed, including beef, lamb, meadow veal, and Boer goat meat.
The Rest
Customers can purchase grass-fed meats by the retail cut, quarter, or side, with options ranging from a single steak to fifty pounds of burger. Products are available for purchase at the farm or at the Walpole Farmers Market, held on Fridays from May to October on the Walpole, NH Common.
