About the Farm
Background
Buckwheat Farms was birthed from a desire to provide well-balanced nourishment from a self-contained permaculture using sustainable agriculture techniques. The farm is a founding Grow Partner of Middle Georgia Agora and is known for its fresh microgreens, sprouts, medicinal herbs, plants, and herbal teas available at the weekly Napier Heights Food Co-op market.
Practices
The farm employs natural growing methods to imitate and create healthy growing environments that produce high yields of quality fruits, vegetables, and grains. They practice no-till gardening, allowing animals to turn the ground and provide extra fertilizer. The farm is in the process of converting every bit of its 1/2 acre into a managed ecosystem capable of supplying almost all physical needs. The philosophy centers on sustainable agriculture, where all participants, both plants and animals, contribute to the health and well-being of the farm.
The Rest
Buckwheat Farms offers farm tours and sustainable permaculture presentations every Saturday and Sunday, as well as permaculture consultation services. The farm is committed to providing food security for the immediate community and seeks to create peaceful and just relationships through voluntary interactions. They welcome input, advice, and cooperative efforts from those interested in sustainable permaculture.
