About the Farm

Background

Located among pine trees and pasture, this 23-acre berry farm is located about 35 minutes south of Athens, Georgia, and within 2 hours of Atlanta and Augusta. Husband and wife team, Cameron and Laura, welcome visitors to their farm, which has become known for its you-pick berry seasons and presence at the Freedom Farmers Market in Atlanta. Despite challenges like frost wiping out entire harvests, the farm continues to thrive and expand, adding new plantings and maintaining a loyal customer base.

Practices

The farm does not use pesticides or chemical sprays and is working towards organic and biodynamic certification. They grow a variety of berries and other fruits, including blueberries, blackberries, mulberries, raspberries, pomegranates, elderberries, and muscadines. The farm emphasizes nutrient-dense, tasty food and uses natural preservation methods such as salt, vinegar, sugar, dehydration, and freezing. Most ingredients are grown on the farm or sourced from local farmers.

The Rest

Visitors can enjoy picking their own berries from June to July, with clean restrooms available on-site. The farm also offers pre-picked berries upon request and sells their produce at the Freedom Farmers Market in Atlanta every Saturday. The farm hosts special events and workshops, and provides updates through their blog and newsletter. Volunteers are welcome to help out in exchange for a chance to connect with the land.
