About the Farm
Background
Buffalo Ridge Orchard began its journey in 2003 with the planting of its first apple tree, marking the transition from a traditional 80-acre agricultural farm to one focused on providing healthy local produce. Over the past decade, the orchard has grown from 800 to over 4,800 trees and now boasts over 50 different types of new and classic apple varieties. The farm also cultivates herb plants and a variety of vegetables throughout the season.
Practices
The farm emphasizes sustainable practices by offering Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) shares, which allow customers to pay ahead for a weekly subscription of produce. This model supports direct growth for the community and helps share the farm's bounty throughout the growing season. Collaboration with other local growers and makers enhances the variety of products available in the CSA shares.
The Rest
The farm offers different types of CSA shares, including a Collaboration CSA Share and an Apple Share, catering to various needs and preferences. Weekly emails keep CSA members informed about their shares, provide recipes, and offer farm updates. The typical share is suitable for a family of four or a couple of fruit and veggie lovers. Customers can sign up for shares through the farm's website.
