About the Farm
Background
In 1997, Charley Opper and Linda Barrett discovered a two-acre plot of land on the edge of Rumsey in Capay Valley, California. They planted their first crop of lavender that year and quickly became known for their vibrant blooms and sweet scents. Harvesting fresh lavender for the farmer's market, their reputation spread throughout the region. Over the years, they developed a range of products including soaps, bath salts, and creams, leading to the establishment of their farm, which now offers a full line of organic handmade lavender products and gifts. The annual Lavender Festival became a beloved tradition, celebrating the harvest with the community.
Practices
The farm is dedicated to organic farming practices, ensuring that all lavender products are made from organically grown lavender. Charley and Linda personally grow and propagate all their lavender, maintaining a hands-on approach to their cultivation and production processes.
The Rest
The farm hosts an annual Lavender Festival, attracting visitors with the promise of sunny weekends spent among lavender, friends, food, and wine. The farm also offers a naturally romantic setting for weddings and intimate gatherings. Charley is known for his warmth and enthusiasm, often sharing tours and presentations about lavender cultivation. The farm's products, including hand sanitizers and lavender cookies, are highly praised by customers for their quality and homemade charm.
