About the Farm
Background
Chinook Farms, a 132-acre farm located south of Snohomish, WA, has deep roots in the local community. Eric Fritch, born and raised in Snohomish, was involved in agriculture from a young age through 4-H Club and Future Farmers of America (FFA). After earning a degree in engineering from Washington State University, he returned to Snohomish and founded Chinook Lumber. Eric and his wife Sharon are dedicated to supporting the local community, including supplying area food banks with vegetables grown on the farm.
Practices
Chinook Farms employs sustainable farming practices, avoiding synthetic pesticides and herbicides. The farm focuses on raising grass-fed beef and pastured poultry, ensuring that animals graze on verdant pastures. The farm also grows organic wheat and other small grains available in the fall through winter. By supporting several other local farmers who share their space, Chinook Farms maximizes land use and diversifies the food provided to the community. Their mission is to develop and maintain a healthy food system that benefits local ecosystems, people, and the economy.
The Rest
Chinook Farms offers a 22-week farm-share program from June to October, with pick-up days on Wednesdays and Fridays. Early subscribers who pay in full before the season begins receive a discount. CSA farm-share members have first priority on grass-fed beef and pastured poultry. The farm is located next to Bob’s Corn in the fertile river valley of the Cathcart area. Visitors can learn more about the farm's partners and additional produce and livestock by visiting their website.
