About the Farm
Background
Chris' Farm Stand began in 1970 when a 9-year-old Chris Stasinos started selling corn grown on his grandfather's pig farm. Over the years, the farm expanded to 139 acres in Haverhill, MA, becoming well-known for its sweet corn, tomatoes, and pumpkins. Chris, a third-generation farmer, graduated from Essex Agricultural High School in Animal Husbandry and has won numerous ribbons at the Topsfield Fair. The farm has grown through the efforts of Chris and his family, including his wife Marlene and their children Andrew and Elizabeth.
Practices
The farm employs sustainable agricultural methods to grow a diverse array of vegetables naturally, without GMOs. They emphasize responsible land stewardship and the importance of sustainable practices in securing the food supply. The family is actively involved in educating the public about where their food comes from and the significance of sustainable farming. They also mentor young farmers to ensure the continuation of these practices.
The Rest
The farm offers educational tours, seasonal events like the annual Pumpkin Festival, and various family-friendly activities such as hayrides, pony rides, and a corn maze. They also host farm-themed birthday parties and weddings. The farm stands are open daily from May to November, providing a variety of fresh produce and other farm products. The farm is handicap accessible and accepts credit cards, EBT, SNAP, HIP, and Farmers Market coupons.
