About the Farm
Background
Located outside of Carlyle, IL, this family-owned and operated farm cultivates 25 acres of vegetables across small 1-4 acre plots through the spring, summer, and fall seasons. The farm also provides a steady supply of free-range brown eggs year-round from approximately 800 laying hens that roam freely in pecan orchards.
Practices
The farm emphasizes the importance of hard work and a deep connection to the land, hand-feeding and hand-gathering eggs from their chickens. They are committed to taking good care of the land and providing healthy food for the community, integrating their love of the land with a lifestyle that celebrates local, sustainable food.
The Rest
The farm's vegetables are grown for CSA shares, farmers markets, and wholesale accounts. The chickens, each with names, are considered spoiled, which is believed to result in better eggs.
