Background

Cotyledon Farm is located on a 60-acre property in Leicester, MA, characterized by its stone walls, gardens, forests, pasture land, and wetlands. Farmer Amanda Barker, who lives on the property, leases the land to operate the farm. The farm's infrastructure includes permanent and cultivated row crop agriculture, perennial herb gardens, a farm stand, two high tunnels, a greenhouse, a packing shed, and a chicken grove. The farm is supported by a vibrant community of members, neighbors, and friends.

Practices

Cotyledon Farm emphasizes mindful stewardship of the land, supporting those who work on it, and including those who rely on its productivity. The farm's mission is to nourish and enliven a diverse community with life-sustaining vegetables and herbs. The vision is to create a diversified, small-scale, organically-grown vegetable and herb farm that fosters a sustainable livelihood for the farmer while developing a social-justice oriented community. The farm values the responsibility of respectfully stewarding the land and ensuring that all involved are nourished, valued, and supported.

The Rest

CSA pick-up days are on Wednesdays from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm starting in June. EBT-SNAP is accepted at the farmstand on Wednesdays from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, June to October. The farm grows a variety of products including arugula, basil, beans, beets, broccoli, cabbage, carrots, chard, cherry tomatoes, chocolate mint, cilantro, cucumbers, eggplant, garlic, garlic scapes, husk cherries, kale, lavender, leeks, lettuce, mint, mustard greens, nasturtiums, onions, oregano, parsley, snap peas, peppers, radishes, rhubarb, rosemary, sage, spinach, summer squash, swiss chard, thyme, tomatoes, tomatillos, turnips, and winter squash. The farm is a place alive with art, collaboration, organizing, and activism, fostering a dignified, centered, and loving environment for all participants.
