About the Farm
Background
Farm life began for the owners twenty-five years ago after retiring from their former professions and moving to Tennessee. Initially raising food for themselves and their daughter's family, they expanded to selling at local farmers markets and eventually developed a CSA program. The farm became Certified Organic for a few years before deciding not to renew due to costs and extensive record-keeping. Over time, they partnered with other local farmers to meet the growing demand of their CSA community. Today, in their mid-80s, the owners continue to serve their CSA community with the help of their farm partners.
Practices
The farm initially planted everything by hand and utilized high tunnels (hoophouses) to extend the growing season. They attended farm conferences and workshops to learn more about farming practices. Though no longer Certified Organic, the farm maintains high standards for growing premium quality seasonal vegetables, produce, and fruit. They partner with other local farmers who are experts in growing specific crops, ensuring a diverse and abundant CSA share for their members.
The Rest
The farm offers a variety of CSA share sizes and payment options, including a payment plan and credit card payments. Members can suspend deliveries for vacations and receive credits for make-up shares or bulk purchases. Additional shares focused on tomatoes, fruit, or a combination can be added to the CSA. The farm provides educational support through newsletters and offers home delivery, workplace deliveries, and neighborhood pick-up locations in Tennessee and Alabama.
