About the Farm
Background
Formerly known as the Millburn-Short Hills CSA, the group rebranded to the Farm and Fork Society to foster a sense of community and support for local farmers. Over the years, it has expanded its offerings to include a variety of vegetables, fruits, poultry, pies, pasta, and cider. The organization serves multiple neighborhoods and has adapted its distribution methods to include doorstep deliveries and flexible share options.
Practices
The Farm and Fork Society emphasizes direct sourcing from local farmers, ensuring that seasonal produce is delivered fresh from the farm. They offer organic and Integrated Pest Management (IMP) options. The society operates on a community-supported agriculture model, where members order in bulk and share the bounty, minimizing waste and supporting local agriculture.
The Rest
Pick-up for seasonal produce occurs every Friday from June to November in downtown Millburn. The society also runs a buying club where members can order a variety of farm products in bulk, including organic blackberries, gala apples, and fresh eggs. Orders are coordinated through a Google sheet, and payments are made via Venmo or Zelle. The society has no membership fees or volunteer requirements, and offers both weekly and biweekly share options.
