About the Farm
Background
Farm Spot has been partnering with Golden Earthworm Organic Farm since 2006, providing fresh, certified organic produce to the community. After losing much of their leased farmland in Long Island, Golden Earthworm relocated to southern Vermont, where they continue to cultivate high-quality vegetables. Farm Spot has reestablished this partnership for the 2024 CSA season, ensuring a steady supply of organic produce for their members.
Practices
Golden Earthworm Organic Farm adheres to certified organic farming practices, focusing on soil health and ecological balance. They utilize compost and other organic amendments to enrich the soil, promoting biodiversity and sustainable crop production. The farm's commitment to organic methods ensures that their produce is free from synthetic pesticides and fertilizers, fostering a healthier ecosystem.
The Rest
The 2024 CSA season spans 22 weeks, with vegetable shares costing $875.30 and subsidized shares available for $437.80. An optional fruit share is offered for $145.35. Members are required to volunteer two shifts per share to support the distribution process. Winter shares, featuring a variety of organic vegetables, are also available for the first time in several years. Pick-up locations include St. Mark’s Church and The Queensboro Restaurant, with specific dates and times provided. Unclaimed shares are donated, and members are encouraged to find share partners through social media or community message boards.
