About the Farm
Background
The farm began in 1991 when Steve and Sandy Finley purchased three bred cows and initially focused on raising pigs. Over time, the farm transitioned to cattle only, producing corn to supplement grazing. A significant shift occurred when they joined an Ohio Soil and Water Conservation program, leading to a grass-only operation. Discussions with another grass-feeding farmer and the addition of grandchildren solidified their commitment to 100% grass-fed beef. In 2015, they expanded to include a Heritage pastured pork program.
Practices
The farm employs a strictly grass-fed approach for their cattle, avoiding growth hormones and unnecessary antibiotics, and only vaccinating against detrimental diseases. The pigs are raised on pasture with access to woodland treats and supplemented with Non-GMO grain. The farm's practices emphasize humane treatment, believing that happier animals lead to better meat quality.
The Rest
The farm sells beef in bulk (1/4, 1/2, or whole) based on hanging weight and pork by the half or whole based on hoof weight. They also offer meat by the cut when available, thanks to a federally inspected label and processor. Visitors are welcome to see the farm and understand how the animals are raised. The farm's goal is to provide affordable, safe, and delicious meat that allows everyone to eat like a farmer.
