About the Farm

Background

Tim Fender and Charlotte Swenson have taken on the stewardship of a small farm located just half a mile from Main Street in Elgin. Known for their dedication to heirloom produce, they have become active members of the River Valley Farmers Market and offer a seasonal CSA to their community.

Practices

The farm employs permaculture principles, focusing on creating a self-sustaining ecosystem. Free-range chickens and turkeys roam the land, contributing to soil health and pest control. The emphasis on heirloom varieties ensures biodiversity and the preservation of traditional plant species.

The Rest

In addition to farming, the farm offers workshops on gardening, natural building, and food preservation, providing valuable education to the community.
