Background
Fork and Hoe has dedicated itself to the belief that the health of the soil is paramount for producing nutritious vegetables and maintaining soil fertility for future generations.
Practices
The farm employs hand tools to avoid disturbing the soil's ecology and refrains from using heavy machinery and chemicals. Natural strategies such as fabric, netting, and flame weeding are used for weed and pest control. The farm maximizes garden space while keeping the surrounding ecosystem intact.
The Rest
The farm offers a CSA program from April to September with weekly pickups at Del Ray Farmers Market in Alexandria, Virginia. They grow a variety of unique vegetables including rainbow carrots, hakurei turnips, fairytale eggplant, Armenian striped cucumber, heirloom tomatoes, red kuri squash, escarole, broccoli rabe, salad greens, microgreens, and foraged mushrooms.
