Gale Woods Farm

Gale Woods Farm, a program of Three Rivers Park District, is located on Whaletail Lake in Minnetrista. It provides a unique educational opportunity where visitors of all ages can learn about various aspects of farming and land stewardship. The farm produces beef, chicken, lamb, pork, turkey, eggs, and vegetables, which are marketed directly to consumers.

The farm emphasizes sustainable agriculture and organic gardening practices. Visitors can engage in seasonal farm activities such as collecting eggs, feeding sheep, planting, and harvesting in the garden. Workshops in gardening, farming, fiber arts, and cooking aim to enrich lives and foster connections within the community.

Visitors can explore the park, arrange field trips, or attend public events. The farm offers CSA shares, skill-based classes, and programs for aspiring farmhands. Picnic areas, a fishing pier, and non-motorized boat access are available, along with canoe rentals from June to September. The farm also features a three-season picnic pavilion for rent and has earned national recognition as a 'green' venue.
