About the Farm

Background

Goodness Grows Farm was established in December 2001 with the purchase of 40 acres in Jefferson Township, Butler, Pennsylvania. Initially aimed at raising meat for family consumption, the farm expanded its ambitions in October 2006 with the establishment of its first herd of Boer goats. Today, the farm operates with a herd of 50 Boer goats and has diversified its meat production to include beef, pork, poultry, and lamb.

Practices

Combining innovative farming technology with common sense, the farm maintains the integrity of its land through rotational grazing practices. Goats forage freely on lush pastures and woodlands, benefiting from abundant vegetation. The farm breeds goats to improve health and meat production capacity, rather than focusing on paper genetics. A heated birthing facility improves mortality rates and provides a stress-free environment for does and their kids. The farm also collaborates with ethical farmers within a three-state radius to market and distribute products, including specialty meats like elk, bison, and heritage breeds.

The Rest

Goodness Grows Farm emphasizes direct on-farm marketing, allowing private buyers to purchase animals for breeding, show, or consumption. The farm also offers delivery arrangements to butchers. Additionally, the farm provides locally raised, sourced, and processed all-natural meat, and offers weekly produce boxes and meal kits sourced from local produce.
