About the Farm
Background
Located just 70 miles east of Chicago, the farm has become a staple in the region, offering produce through its on-farm store, CSA program, Chicago farmer's markets, area restaurants, and South Bend's Purple Porch Co-op. The farm also hosts events to educate the public about sustainable agriculture and healthy, seasonal eating.
Practices
The farm employs certified organic farming methods, utilizing two unheated hoop houses to extend the growing season and market products year-round. They grow over 100 different varieties of vegetables, from spring lettuces to summer vine-ripened tomatoes and fall root crops, all cultivated from seed to harvest. The farm also raises pasture-raised chickens and offers a variety of grains and pantry staples.
The Rest
Visitors can enjoy a self-guided tour through the farm, visit the chickens, and meet the farmers. The farm store is stocked with fresh, certified organic produce and grains. They also offer a CSA subscription with various seasonal shares and add-ons, such as a grain box, pantry staples box, and weekly eggs. Additionally, members receive early access to farm dinners and other events.
