About the Farm
Background
When the founders moved to Southside Virginia, they faced skepticism from locals about their unconventional farming methods. Their primary goal was to feed themselves and then extend their reach to friends and communities. They believe that true health starts with what we consume, affecting both physical and spiritual well-being. Their commitment to natural, chemical-free farming practices has been a cornerstone of their operations.
Practices
The farm employs chemical-free methods, using only heirloom, non-GMO seeds and plants. They raise grass-fed and finished Black Angus and Belted Galloway beef, pasture-raised Guinea and Duroc pork, and cage-free poultry and eggs. Their goats, including Boer, Nigerian, and Toggenborg breeds, are raised for both dairy and meat. Certified organic vegetables are grown, and they are planning to provide natural honey. They avoid growth hormones, antibiotics, and CAFO practices, emphasizing the importance of gut health and the dangers of processed foods and industrial meat operations.
The Rest
The farm promotes juicing fresh vegetables, leafy greens, and herbs as a natural, nutritionally charged meal. They advocate for reading food labels and making a commitment to eating fresh and local produce. They invite potential customers to contact them for purchasing farm produce and pasture-raised meats. They also highlight the health risks associated with processed foods, antibiotic resistance from industrial meat operations, and the lack of long-term testing on GMOs and growth hormones in the US.
