About the Farm
Background
Located in Gainesville, Georgia, this farm opened its doors in June 2019 within a 30,000 sq. ft. facility. Known for its high-tech farming setup, it produces hundreds of pounds of oyster mushrooms daily and plans to expand to other varieties. The farm is the only state-of-the-art bottle cultivation indoor farm in the Southeastern United States, boasting certifications such as USDA Organic and Certified Naturally Grown.
Practices
Utilizing a high-tech indoor farming facility with controlled air, temperature, and humidity, the farm ensures top-quality mushrooms. It employs sustainable practices by using agricultural by-products to produce gourmet mushrooms and organic compost, ensuring nothing goes to waste. The farm sources local agri-waste and converts it into natural organic matter, which can be reused as fertilizer or soil amendment.
The Rest
Open to the public for fresh mushroom picking on Saturdays, the farm requires an RSVP due to COVID-19. Future plans include an education center to teach younger generations about mushroom benefits and the use of local waste products in production. Co-owned by Elizabeth Moon and her husband John, both bring extensive IT and project management experience to the operation, ensuring efficient and innovative farming practices.
