About the Farm

Background

Located just north of the Kankakee/Will County line in rural Custer Park, the farm has become known for its commitment to offering fresh, locally grown produce to the community. With a harvest season extending for approximately 20 weeks from late May through October, the farm provides a weekly box of a variety of fresh produce, including heirloom varieties and those listed on the Ark of Taste.

Practices

Utilizing sustainable, organic farming practices, the farm ensures that no chemical fertilizers, pesticides, or herbicides are used on any crops. The poultry are raised on pasture with access to organic feed and clean water, while the free-range laying hens are fed an organic non-soy/corn feed and enjoy plenty of sunshine.

The Rest

The farm offers a limited number of shares for $350, providing a weekly share that includes vegetables, herbs, edible flowers, and raspberries. Many of the produce varieties are heirlooms, and newer varieties are chosen for their flavor and health benefits.
