About the Farm
Background
Hammer’s Farm operates two locations, one in Florissant, MO and another outside of Decatur, IL. The Decatur farm is Certified Organic, adhering to all NOP organic certification standards, while the Florissant farm is in the process of obtaining certification.
Practices
The cattle are raised using intensive rotational grazing techniques, ensuring they are free of pesticides, herbicides, growth hormones, and antibiotics. Both farms follow strict organic guidelines, with the Decatur location already certified and the Florissant location working towards certification.
The Rest
Beef is available in the spring and fall, with orders requiring a deposit. Customers can place orders online or by phone. The beef is delivered to a USDA-inspected butcher, dry-aged for 21 days, cut to customer specifications, packaged, and frozen. Pick-up is arranged at the locker plant in St. Libory three weeks after delivery. A computerized cutting instructions guide is available on the website to assist customers in making their selections.
