About the Farm

Background

Rosata, her husband Prosper, and their son Japhety began their journey by growing vegetables on a small plot provided by Food Works. In 2016, they established their farm, providing produce to local stores in New Columbia, farmers markets, and restaurants. They aim to offer familiar and fresh alternatives to foods found in local groceries, particularly for fellow African immigrants. Their produce is available from Seattle to Salem, bringing the flavors and culinary connections back to their African roots.

Practices

The farm cultivates Oregon land using seeds and crops from Africa, emphasizing the importance of connecting their community with traditional foods. They focus on growing specific African crops, ensuring that their farming methods support the cultural and nutritional needs of their community.

The Rest

Their produce can be found at various farmers markets, including St. Johns, Kenton, PSU, and Come Thru Market. They also offer a CSA program from June through September, featuring a unique assortment of vegetables. The farm is known for its commitment to combating oppressive systems of institutionalized racism and forced assimilation, striving to unite and nourish their community.
