About the Farm
Background
Located just 8 miles from exit 45 on RT 80, Hepler Meats has been in the beef business for over 22 years and in the butchering business for 15 years. Initially producing all natural beef fattened on grain, they have now dedicated an entire herd to 100% grass fed beef, catering to the growing demand from their customers.
Practices
The beef are raised without artificial hormones, antibiotic vaccines, non-protein nitrogen, or undue stress. The animals are under 24 months of age and typically grade in the choice range, with leaner beef available upon request. The focus on grass-fattened beef ensures that the animals are fed a natural diet, although the offering is limited to early summer due to pasture quality decline in late summer.
The Rest
Customers benefit from the convenience of dealing directly with both the farmer and the butcher. Pricing is competitive, with $3.99 per pound for half a grass fed beef, $4.25 per pound for a hind quarter, and $3.75 per pound for a front quarter, including cut, wrap, and freeze.
