About the Farm
Background
Hidden Spring Farm, located in Lebanon County, PA, is a family-owned and operated business. The farm has a strong commitment to raising healthy animals in a natural, pasture-based environment. The owners believe in the importance of knowing where food comes from and how it is grown, encouraging the consumption of fresh, local foods. The farm welcomes visitors by appointment and offers an on-farm store for purchasing individual cuts of meat.
Practices
The farm raises Angus/Limousin cattle on grass and legume pastures from birth to finish, employing rotational grazing to provide fresh paddocks daily. Cattle are never given grain or growth hormones and are fed hay and baleage during winter. Chickens, specifically the Cornish Cross breed, are raised on supplemental grains, fresh grass, and insects, with portable housing units moved daily to ensure fresh forage and a clean environment. No hormones or growth stimulants are used. The farm's beef is processed in a USDA-inspected facility and dry-aged for 14 days to enhance tenderness and flavor.
The Rest
Beef and chicken must be preordered and picked up at the farm, with options to order chickens live or dressed and beef in various quantities. The farm also produces sweet corn and pumpkins during the growing season. Hidden Spring Farm offers a variety of pasture-raised products, including pork, eggs, turkey, and nutrient-dense bones and organs. Customers can shop in person at the on-farm store or sign up for a free account to choose a convenient pickup location.
