About the Farm
Background
Since breaking ground in 2020, the farm has been dedicated to transforming the lives of young people and increasing access to healthy food in Garfield County. Known for its commitment to community and education, the farm has served 220 households through its CSA and engaged 33 youth from six different high schools in its job-training programs.
Practices
The farm operates on a 25-year, 5-acre lease at the Silt River Preserve, focusing on building healthy soils and a thriving farm ecosystem without the use of chemical pesticides or fertilizers. Their regenerative approach ensures nutrient-dense food production while protecting the environment.
The Rest
The farm runs an 8-week job-training program for teens aged 14-17, teaching them how to grow vegetables and understand the food system while gaining valuable job and communication skills. They commit 20% of their produce to hunger relief efforts in Garfield County and accept WIC and SNAP benefits. Their produce is available through a 120-member CSA, local farmers' markets, and wholesale. The farm also hosts volunteer days and public events to engage the community.
