About the Farm
Background
Since 1956, the farm has been raising high-quality beef in an environmentally sensitive way. Located in Thomas County, the farm benefits from a nearly year-round growing season and coastal plains soils, which produce lush forages ideal for their cattle.
Practices
The farm's spacious pastures, dotted with oak oases and familiar pines, support a carefully selected cow herd that thrives without the need for growth stimulants or other chemical aids. The cattle, nurtured from birth until market-ready, are known for their tenderness and marbling. The beef is carcass aged and cut to customer specifications, enhancing its quality.
The Rest
Beef is available as grass or grain finished in wholes, halves, or quarters. The farm emphasizes the difference in taste and quality between their hand-reared beef and that produced by factory farms. Pricing is based on weight, with a whole typically around 400 lbs., a half around 200 lbs., and a quarter around 100 lbs. Popularly, two families often share a half to enjoy a variety of cuts.
