About the Farm
Background
Huerta del Valle, serving the Inland Empire region of Southern California, is a network of urban farms and community gardens dedicated to creating an equitable food system. The organization envisions a future where fresh, local, and sustainably produced food is accessible to everyone in the Inland Valley region. Their goal is to establish a garden for every square mile of residential space from Temecula to Needles, ensuring that no one has to travel far to find nutritious and fair food.
Practices
The organization specializes in a biodiverse and seasonal selection of fruits and vegetables, grown naturally and without pesticides. Community spaces are utilized where people can learn about food access, nutrition, and sustainability while actively practicing solutions and growing their own food.
The Rest
Huerta del Valle offers a CSA Harvest Box program, allowing subscribers to pick up a box of produce every other week, containing a mix of fruits, vegetables, and herbs harvested directly from their farm sites. Volunteers are welcome to help out at garden sites, complete community service hours, or trade volunteering time for produce. The organization also encourages group volunteering and provides options for upfront or recurring payments for their CSA program.
