About the Farm
Background
The farm began in July 1982 as a 4-H project by the owner's oldest daughter and has grown significantly since then. Known for its Nubian Dairy Goats, the farm has shown its herd throughout New England and attended national shows in Harrisburg, PA, Springfield, MA, and Louisville, KY. Over the years, the farm has bred numerous award-winning goats, including 5 Recorded Grade Breed Leaders, 2 Spotlight Sale does, and 35 Permanent Grand Champions. More than 40 bucks and does have received the Superior Genetics (SG) Award.
Practices
The farm places a strong emphasis on breeding structurally correct animals that excel in both type and production. Kids are raised on heat-treated colostrum and pasteurized milk, housed separately from mature stock, and weaned at 10-12 weeks. The herd is vaccinated with Bar-Vac CDT and started early on a 16% dairy pellet and choice second cut hay. The farm also raises pigs and free-range chickens on the rich goat milk, ensuring a closed-loop system that maximizes the use of resources.
The Rest
The farm produces goat milk soap, known for its creamy texture and skin benefits. Semen from the farm's herd sires is available for purchase, and kids can be ordered with a deposit. The farm is located near the scenic coast of New Hampshire, where the salt air can be smelled on a warm summer day. The farm's animals have been recognized for their genetic superiority through participation in ADGA's performance programs, DHI production testing, and Linear Appraisal type evaluation.
