About the Farm
Background
The farm's journey began with a decade of homesteading in various environments, transforming into a business in 2012 and relocating to a 15-acre property in 2014. Known for their commitment to self-sufficiency, they have expanded their operations to include a wide variety of livestock and a nearly 5-acre garden that supports both their family and the community through a CSA program.
Practices
Farming methods emphasize sustainability without the use of pesticides, herbicides, or chemical fertilizers. The farm engages the soil food web to cultivate healthy soil and plants. They raise chickens, turkeys, ducks, guineas, goats, pigs, rabbits, and cows, and practice scratch cooking, food preservation, seed saving, and wood splitting. The farm also processes their own meat and makes maple syrup, cheese, and sausages.
The Rest
The farm offers a variety of services including tree line clearing, firewood cutting and splitting, garden space rental, spring garden tilling and planning, and educational visits to nursing homes and schools. They also provide classes and workshops on homesteading skills, and run a blog and Facebook page to share knowledge and updates. The farm is involved in a community project called The Victory Gardener, aimed at encouraging backyard food production.
