About the Farm

Background

Located at the tip of Mathews County, this small, family-owned and operated farm has undertaken the significant task of revitalizing a dilapidated large-scale egg farm from the 1960s. Repurposing much of what was left behind, they have embarked on a journey to create a sustainable farm.

Practices

The farm focuses on creating a mostly closed system, reusing and repurposing materials from the old egg farm to minimize waste and enhance sustainability. Their approach includes raising rabbits for both pets and meat, cultivating two types of ducks for meat and eggs, and producing chicken eggs. They also plan to introduce earthworms and meal-worms into their ecosystem.

The Rest

In addition to animal products, the farm will offer blackberries and a variety of vegetables. Future plans include supporting a small brewery with the resources and systems they have developed.
