About the Farm
Background
Lansing's Farm Market is an 8th generation family-owned and operated farm. Al Lansing began farming the family land in 1964 at the age of 14, with seed money from the owner of the Schenectady Agway store. Over the years, Al expanded the farm to include greenhouses in 1980, Farmers Markets in 2006, greenhouse tomatoes in 2008, and a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) Program in 2010. Al, his wife Donna, and their children Sabrina, Jessica, Albert, and Patrick currently run the farm operations.
Practices
The farm is dedicated to growing the freshest fruits, berries, herbs, and vegetables, along with a wide variety of flowering annuals and perennials. Their mission emphasizes creating a sense of community and supporting local agriculture. This dedication is evident through their fundraising activities and leadership in farmers markets and farm organizations.
The Rest
The farm market sells locally produced milk, cheese, eggs, and meats. They also have their own bakery, Al's Rolling Pin Bakery, which features seasonal tea breads, pies, and donuts. The blueberry field is open for pick-your-own (PYO) exclusively to CSA members and their families.
