About the Farm
Background
Liberty Acres Farm is known for its commitment to sustainable and diversified farming practices. Modeled after the renowned Polyface Farms, it has carved a niche in raising a variety of livestock including chickens, pigs, turkeys, and lamb. The farm has become a local staple, providing fresh, pasture-raised products to the community.
Practices
The farm employs rotational grazing methods, ensuring that animals are frequently moved to fresh pasture. Chickens and turkeys are housed in movable shelters to protect them from predators and are relocated daily. Pigs are raised in large paddocks and moved as needed, while lambs are 100% grass-fed and rotationally grazed. The farm avoids the use of antibiotics, hormones, steroids, pesticides, and herbicides. Non-GMO supplemental feed is sourced from a local mill. Processing is done either on the farm or at a small, family-owned, USDA-inspected facility.
The Rest
Liberty Acres Farm offers a variety of products including whole chickens, various cuts, bones, and ground meat. Pork products include 17 cuts and 7 varieties of sausage, with nitrate-free smoked options. Turkeys are available year-round in whole, cuts, or ground forms. Lamb cuts are available from late fall into spring. Fresh eggs are collected daily from a pasture-raised laying flock housed in a mobile hen house. The farm's mission is to shift the food system paradigm towards small, family-run, eco-responsible local food systems, fostering a deeper connection between people and their food.
