About the Farm

Background

Established in 2010, Liberty Mills Farm is a family-owned and operated 125-acre farm located in Somerset, VA. Originally part of Bloomingdale Farm, it offers panoramic views of the Blue Ridge Mountains and surrounding countryside. Known for its Fall Corn Maze, Pick Your Own Pumpkin Patch, and spring Strawberry Pick Your Own Fields, the farm has become a popular destination for families and friends. Located just east of the Rapidan River and minutes from Gordonsville, Barboursville, and Montpelier, the farm is easily accessible from Charlottesville, Culpeper, Richmond, and Washington, D.C.

Practices

The farm follows organic and sustainable farming methods, including plasticulture, companion planting, and no-till farming. While certain crops may be sprayed to save or preserve them, the farm minimizes spraying whenever possible and uses safe alternatives. These practices reflect a commitment to maintaining healthy soil and ecosystems.

The Rest

Liberty Mills Farm is home to the largest Corn Maze on the East Coast, spanning 25 acres. Visitors can also enjoy picking their own flowers, pumpkins, and strawberries, as well as exploring the perennial Butterfly Garden Maze. The farm hosts various seasonal events, including the Sunflower Festival and Strawberry Fest. Produce is available for purchase at the farm and local Farmer's Markets. The farm also offers homemade ice cream and a Farm Market with local products.
