Lil' Ponderosa Enterprises

Bob and Kate Boyce operate the Lil' Ponderosa Freezer Beef Business out of their home on Ponderosa Road. The farm has received numerous awards, including the 'Conservation Farmer of the Year' from the Chesapeake Bay Watershed Conservation District of Cumberland County, PA in 2011, the National 2005 Environmental Stewardship award for Region I from the National Cattlemen's Beef Association, and the Environmental Stewardship award from the Pennsylvania Cattlemen's Association in 2003. The farm's name, 'Lil' Ponderosa Ranch,' reflects its location and the family's dedication to producing high-quality beef.

The farm raises and finishes its cattle exclusively on grass, never feeding them grain at any point in their lives. They grow all their own feed, maintaining a 60/40 ratio of grass and legumes, which are fed as dry hay and haylage during periods when grass is short or unavailable. The farm does not use hormones, implants, artificial feed, animal by-products, or chemicals as fertilizers, herbicides, or pesticides. Their farming philosophy is guided by the question, 'What would GOD be doing if we weren't here to interfere?'

Visitors are welcome to tour the farm and learn about its practices. The farm offers freezer beef in any quantity but does not currently ship.
