About the Farm
Background
The LittleFarmStand began its journey in July 2010 at the corner of 11th & K street NW, selling its first peach. Originating from Loudoun County, Virginia, the farm spans 25 acres in Middleburg, VA. Over the years, it has become known for its diverse offerings, including a variety of heirloom vegetables, grass-fed Angus beef, and fresh farm eggs. The farm has gained popularity through word of mouth, without spending on advertisements, and has been recognized as one of the top CSA programs in Washington DC.
Practices
The farm adheres to strict breeding practices for its 100% grass-fed Black & Red Angus cattle, ensuring they only consume fresh grass and clean pond water. They grow a large variety of specialty heirloom tomatoes and other vegetables without using harmful pesticides or GMO seeds. The farm operates in harmony with the weather, emphasizing organic growth and sustainability.
The Rest
The farm offers a highly flexible and popular CSA program with free delivery within Washington DC, as well as local pick-up at farm stands and farmers markets. They also provide wholesale fruits and vegetables to restaurants and chefs. Additionally, the farm is known for its seasonal baked goods and soups made from their produce. The CSA program has been vegan since 2020, and the farm prides itself on leaving nothing wasted in their operations.
