About the Farm
Background
For well over a decade, this family-owned farm has been dedicated to growing a wide assortment of unique vegetables, many fruits, and some herbs and flowers from GMO-free, heirloom seeds and stock. Known for their commitment to organic and sustainable farming practices, they have built a reputation for providing high-quality, nutrient-dense foods to the local community.
Practices
The farm employs a variety of organic and sustainable farming methods, including crop rotations, cover-cropping, composting, composted manure and compost teas, green manures, and natural amendments like shrimp castings and rock dust. They avoid the use of pesticides, herbicides, and fungicides, relying primarily on drip irrigation and focusing on building soil tilth to support the life within the soil, such as worms and fungi. Their commitment to healthy, safe growing practices is evident in their refusal to use harmful treatments or chemicals.
The Rest
Visitors are welcome to explore the farm, which features natural wilderness borders and a wetland with resident herons. The farm's philosophy is deeply rooted in a connection to the land, as evidenced by the farmers and their children regularly eating freshly harvested crops directly from the field.
